St Luke’s Chapel has now started on site!

St Luke’s is an amazing Grade II* listed chapel located in The Bromptons in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

Re-Format are the architects who have designed the conversion of this chapel into a family home, which will have Ubu crafted landscape.

This scheme brings all of the living spaces into the heart of the chapel, with a logical flow from the entrance zone through the ‘public’ entertaining spaces and then onto more private areas of the house.

It will include a contemporary micro-cement upper floor which folds up to form a new podium, containing the original chancel and altar.

A timber library podium and feature kitchen screen will read as crafted pieces of furniture, referencing the role to the original pews and timber carving.

A mezzanine, largely glass with hidden structure, retains the legibility of the dramatic existing chapel space.

The structure will be sensitively upgraded to achieve the highest standards of sustainability without impacting on the integral value of the original historic building.
