22 January 2026 – Cornerstone: City of London’s first co-living homes

UBU Design are pleased to be providing the landscape design for the City of London’s first co-living development.

The £78m Cornerstone scheme on the edge of the Barbican Estate will convert and extend a 1950s office building into 174 modern co-living homes, designed by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris Architects.

This landmark scheme will deliver the first professionally managed co-living homes in the City of London and provide much-needed accommodation for City workers.

Cornerstone will offer residents 8,000 sq ft of shared amenities including co-working spaces, a cafe, gym, communal lounges and a roof terrace.

Sustainability is key in this landmark scheme, which will reuse 90% of the existing building’s substructure and 65% of the superstructure and an impressive 99.8% of materials have been recycled through the strip out process.

The scheme is due for completion in 2028.
