23 January 2023 – Marjorie McClure School nearing completion
The new Marjorie McClure school in Chislehurst is now nearing completion and it’s great to see Ubu’s name in gold, as one of the sponsored bricks in their new courtyard.
Ubu have provided the landscape design for this new all age special school for children, working alongside architects Haverstock and construction group Galliford Try.
The new school will be a single storey building, with a central lightwell . Some classrooms will have their own outdoor space, though not on the side of the building facing Edgebury to ensure that there is no disturbance to local residents.
The building will contain a hydrotherapy pool, large multi-purpose hall, two sensory rooms, a rebound therapy room, soft play room and an array of specialist classrooms. Outside spaces will include courtyards, outside classroom areas for primary, a pond, wildflower meadow, forest school area with an outdoor classroom, a MUGA and 7-a-side football pitch.
The school’s capacity is 100 pupils and it is not proposed to increase this capacity.
Planning application was approved by Bromley Council in June 2021.
