24 September 2019 – Warsash Martime Academy

Further to the successful delivery of the new Leisure Block for Solent University, Ubu have been appointed by Morgan Sindall to deliver the external design for the new Maritime Acadamy in Warsash. Ubu will be working alongside Design Engine Architects and WFBA engineers.

The proposed development will be located east of Southampton on the Hampshire coast within the existing Lower Site of Solent University’s Warsash Maritime Academy, the world’s premier maritime education and training provider.

Four out of nine buildings on the retained site are prefabricated and temporary and therefore not suitable for redevelopment. This proposal consolidates all teaching and training facilities into a new integrated L-shaped building within a remodelled campus as well as providing in-house HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) facilities.  It will also accommodate the teaching and training requirements of Hampshire Fire & Rescue as part of a shared- facility collaboration.
