Eton Wick
Ubu was commissioned to develop a strategic masterplan to reinvigorate the heart of Eton Wick. The primary objective was to reduce traffic speed through the village and reconnect the village centre with two existing parades of shops, currently separated by a main road and two service roads. Ubu’s approach was to adopt a shared space principle in which motorists, cyclists and pedestrians occupy, interact and share the same public space, slowing traffic down through the village centre. The proposals include a new village square to help draw the two shopping precincts together, with narrowed access to slow traffic through the entire length of the village. Shared crossing points at key locations are also provided.
