Gorse Ride

A wholesale redevelopment of an existing 1950’s housing estate which will deliver 248 units of a mixture of tenure from bungalows to apartments catering for an existing diverse community.

Working closely with the architect and drainage engineers a landscape led approach was developed to meet open space requirements as well as delivering a varied and diverse landscape offer.

This included an integrated response to flood and SUD’s requirements, which has led to the creation of a wetland habitat, open space with an amphitheatre, open space for informal activities and also an area for community events.

A detailed consultation with all key stakeholders, as well as residents, was undertaken to underpin the design intent and offer a public realm that would meet the needs of a diverse age range. This has included a pocket park, a central connecting spine trim trail, growing areas and a new multi-age play facility.
