Hanborough Manor School

Ubu provided the landscape design for the extension and refurbishment of Hanborough Manor School in Long Hanborough, Oxford, working with Collado Collins as the Architect.

Funded by Oxfordshire County Council, this £3.2 project was commissioned following the announcement of 339 new homes planned for Long Hanborough.

Oxfordshire County Council worked closely with the Eynsham Partnership Academy Trust (EPAT), Hanborough Parish Council and Hanborough Playing Field Association to plan the expansion of the school and facilitate a land swap expanding the size of the site and playing field space. This expansion means the children in the growing community are now able to receive their education locally.

The project expanded the school from 210 to a maximum of 315 pupils aged 4-11. To do this, the school had to acquire additional land to relocate the school’s hard play provision, facilitate the construction of the new teaching block on the existing hard play area, and create additional playing field space.

The brief also included the installation of a new MUGA (multi-use games area) as well as a Sports England pitch for outdoor activities.

The project was delivered by Morgan Sindall Construction in time for the new academic year in 2021.
