Horizon House, Hampshire
Horizon House is an exceptional private house, reflecting the highest standards of architecture and landscape, proposed within open countryside, under Paragraph 55 of the National Planning Policy Framework.
Situated within rolling agricultural downland in west Hampshire, the proposals draw influence from the local landscape character, conceptually returning the site to the elemental components of the local landscape, to provide a significantly enhanced environment for the site. The concept for the building, designed by Architecture PLB, is inspired by flint, a naturally occurring rock colloquially known as ‘the crop that never fails’. Sustainability is entwined within the proposals, the new dwelling being locally unique by exceeding Passivhaus Plus. The design strategy has been shaped to result in the integration of sustainable drainage, habitat creation and biodiversity enhancements, as well as opening up of strategic views across the site.
Close collaboration with the client and design team on this project has led to a truly unique and inspiring design.
