Hulme Living
Royce Road and Leaf Street are social housing developments collectively known as Hulme Living, and Ubu are delighted to have been working on both schemes with acclaimed architects. Royce Road, designed by OMI, consists of 67 two-bedroom apartments and is now fully occupied. The strong overall landscape design approach and attractive planting scheme has really helped to bed the new blocks into the surrounding streetscape and deliver a great landscape for residents.
Hulme Living focused on the creation of small, compact buildings carefully positioned in existing green spaces. Together, the buildings in Leaf Street and Royce Road form graceful clusters of housing that define the surrounding public and collective spaces, forge new connections, and adapt themselves to existing structures, streets and other open spaces.
This project is One Manchester’s first new build scheme since forming in 2015 following the merger of Eastlands Homes and City South Manchester Housing Trust. All revenues earned from the homes will be reinvested back into local development to help enhance the lives of residents in One Manchester’s communities.
