Kao Park
Construction work is underway on a world-class, state-of-the-art campus within the Harlow Enterprise Zone, with landscaping complete on Building M, Kao Park. The site, which sits on the London Road South site of the zone, is former home of Nortel and was the location for the invention in 1966 of the technology behind fibre optic cable.
Ubu worked with Hale Architects to prepare detailed landscape proposals within the planning framework of the Local Development Order put in place by Harlow Council, and produce designs fit for a dynamic, innovative business environment. Comprising the refurbishment of two larger buildings on the site, demolition of redundant laboratory space and the creation of a 32,000 sqm data centre on a former car park, the campus will offer 20,000 sqm office space.
