One Bayshill Road, Cheltenham
One Bayshill Road is a unique collection of 50 one, two and three bed luxury apartments located in Montpellier, Cheltenham. Designed alongside Glenn Howells Architects we have drawn inspiration from the distinguished streets of Montpellier to create a development that touches on the traditional and the modern and complements the Regency architecture of the street. Two Grade II listed villas have been thoughtfully restored into an extra care home that aims to redefine retirement living and respond to the HAPPI report (Housing our Ageing Population: Panel for Innovation). The units are finished to a high specification and shared facilities include a hydrotherapy spa, lounge and restaurant.
In the 1970s, the houses had been clumsily combined into one property as St George’s House. The new design has removed the insensitive additions and replaced them with a new element that allows the original villa forms to be read and acknowledges their neoclassical proportions. An ugly mansard has been removed and the villas’ garden setting and railings reinstated.
