Rolling out the green carpet
Ubu are pleased to have been appointed by Better Bankside following their recent ‘rolling out the green carpet’ competition.
This new project will create a ‘green carpet’ outside the entrances of the Ibis Styles, Novotel London Bridge – both on Southwark Bridge Road and the Mercure London Bridge that fronts on to Southwark Street. All three hotels are part of the Accor Group of hotels.
The aim of the project is to increase urban greening within Bankside, provide a green welcome for visitors to the area and to improve the local environment in a creative and playful way.
The idea of the ‘green carpet’ has been used as the starting point for the design, using vertical planters which will provide a frame for climbing plants.
The planter itself is inspired by the individual spools of thread which weave together into patterned form or roll of carpet.
Ubu also worked on delivering the #Better Air Letters for Better Bankside after winning a mini design competition in 2019.
