St Ann’s Hospital

This project is located at St Ann’s Hospital in Poole and will see the creation of a replacement adult Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), alongside additional adult mental health impatient beds, improved accommodation (ensuring all patients have their own rooms) and a new “place of safety” suite for patients detained under the Mental Health Act.

This scheme has been designed by Medical Architecture, with UBU crafted landscape for Dorset Health Care. It was granted planning permission in 2023, with construction starting early in 2024.

The plans have been carefully designed to minimise the impact on surrounding areas and will be an environmentally sensitive project, with fully sustainable buildings contributing towards the Trust’s net zero carbon targets. The development will deliver a biodiversity net gain and meet BREEAM Excellent standards.
