The Pavillion PRU

The Pavilion School Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) project took 15 years to come to fruition and UBU worked on it for 5 years. We also assisted in the delivery of the new sports pavilion and the upgrading of the grass pitch facilities, working with the construction partner Graham, Design ID engineers and Collardo Collins Architects

The Pavilion is the main Alternative Provision for Barnet, offering a range of educational programmes and services for up to 73 young people aged between 11 and 16 years old who are unable to attend mainstream schools for a variety of reasons including social, emotional, behavioural and medical difficulties.

Its new home, which was constructed adjacent to its previous buildings, will provide more spacious and modern facilities, including science, art and technology workshops, an IT suite, sports hall, multi-use games area, and space for music and drama.

The construction project also included improvements to the surrounding Dame Alice Owen Playing Fields and the development of a new sports pavilion for the wider community, with new changing facilities for the cricket and junior football pitches.

The Pavillion PRU opened in October 2022.
