UNCLE Wembley
UNCLE Wembley is a a substantial residential development in Wembley, London consisting of 21 and 26 storey towers linked by a 7 storey block and includes 239 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments for rent with associated retail space, a new public square and community facilities.
This former council building in Wembley known as Chesterfield House was converted into a mixed-use development by architects Maccreanor Lavington and Stride Treglown.
UBU provided the landscape design for this project, including the public square/entrance area and communal spaces including a 7th storey kids play area and a 21st storey roof garden.
Delivering usable and engaging space, the clean and simple public square sympathetically marries the curtilage of the building with the existing footway and maintains clear access for cyclists, visitors and residents. A community centre breakout space defined by informal seating and planters actively encourages recreational use and social interaction. Planters accommodating a pronounced level change across the square integrate seating to the public footway, promoting engagement with the street.
Roof terraces provide private play space and a residents’ level 21 roof garden with varying aspects and degrees of enclosure/exposure provides striking views across Wembley and Greater London.
